Scope note

  • The Czech and Slovak Federal Republic (CZECHOSLOVAKIA) ceased to exist on 31 Dec. 1992. The successor States were the Czech Republic (CZECH REPUBLIC, the short form CZECHIA has been used since May 17, 2016) and the Slovak Republic (SLOVAKIA). For works published or which cover the period prior to 31 Dec. 1992, use Czechoslovakia as an added descriptor.
